About The Manor

History, Charm & Character

The Story of a 16th-Century French Retreat

Tucked away in the peaceful Normandy countryside, Manoir de Founecrop is a striking example of 16th-century French architecture — a fortified manoir rich in history, character, and quiet grandeur.

Originally built during the Renaissance, the manor has stood for over 400 years. Its thick stone walls and elegant features have borne witness to centuries of French heritage. Once a rural stronghold, it has been lovingly preserved and sensitively restored to blend modern comfort with old-world charm — from exposed timber beams and stone fireplaces to the iconic stone tower with its sweeping staircase and ancient defensive firing points.

Set within 7 acres of private parkland, the manoir feels secluded yet accessible, offering a rare sense of retreat without isolation. If you can’t face leaving your favourite equine friend at home a two acre fenced horse paddock is also included as the quiet lanes surrounding the house lend themselves to pleasurable hacks!

Mature trees, open lawns and stone flagged terraces surround the house, creating the perfect setting for long lunches, morning walks, or simply unwinding with a glass of wine under the stars.

Inside, the Manor is designed to welcome families and friends in style. There are four generous bedrooms and an additional ‘day bed room’, four bathrooms, a large sitting room with an ancient stone chimney, a large country kitchen, a study, and ample space to relax, host, or simply enjoy the tranquillity of the setting. Every room has been thoughtfully furnished, with quality finishes and UK comforts — including appliances and sockets — to make your stay effortless.

Whether you’re curling up by the log burning fire in winter, enjoying alfresco dining in the summer, or exploring the nearby beaches and historic villages, Manoir de Founecrop offers a timeless backdrop for unforgettable moments.

Enjoy all the benefits of a historic home in France - without the high costs of sole ownership.
